Summer Outfit Ideas for After Quarantine

Hello! My name is Karen and I’m a fashion blogger based in NYC. I connected with Hailey via Instagram and was so excited when she asked me to create a blog post for her! Now that we’re really getting into the swing of summer, I thought it would be fun to share some outfit ideas for all the summery things we’ll get to do after being cooped up at home for so long during quarantine. I picked three “events” that you might run into this summer and decided on three key pieces that will make choosing an outfit super simple. They’re even things you probably already own! After wearing sweatpants for three months straight, putting together an outfit can feel like trying to solve your 9th grade algebra homework after being out of school for 10 years. So I hope you find these helpful and let’s get into it!

Date Night:

Personally, there’s nothing better than a summer dinner date over-looking the ocean after a long day at the beach. This is usually what I think of when I think about summer! Date night also makes me think that I want to feel sexy, without necessarily baring it all. For me, that usually results in wearing some kind of lacey cami. I like camis because they are dainty and sexy, but still not too revealing. I like to get my lace camis from Abercrombie because they carry a variety of regular camis and cami bodysuits which are great for when you want to tuck your shirt in! For this outfit, I styled a white lace cami from Abercrombie with white straight leg jeans from Everlane for a monochromatic look. I finished off the look by adding tan mule sandals from Steve Madden and some gold jewelry!

Brunch:

Brunch is another summer staple as far as events go! There is something so exciting about waking up early to drink mimosas with your girlfriends and chat about your life. I like to get dressed up for brunch because it’s not something I get to do often, so I like to make it feel special with a great outfit. Because this usually involves eating a ton of food also, I like to opt for a looser printed dress. This printed dress is from Target’s limited edition collaboration with LoveShackFancy, but Target is usually a go to when I want to find cute affordable dresses! I also love to browse through Abercrombie and Zara for fun prints and a variety of lengths. I finished off my look with white espadrille wedges from Dolce Vita and more gold jewelry!

Family BBQ:

Last but not least, it’s not really summer if you’re not heading to a family BBQ! A family get together is my favorite time to get outside to enjoy the weather, while also eating delicious food and spending time with my loved ones. As far as attire goes, a family bbq can range anywhere from just-rolled-out-of-bed to a black tie affair depending on your family. Maybe that was dramatic, but you get what I’m saying, right? In my opinion, I think you can’t go wrong with jeans and a pretty top! This summer, my favorite style of top is usually a puff sleeve. They are incredibly flattering, come in all shapes and colors, and are very easy to find right now! My favorite places to shop for these styles of tops are, you guessed it, Abercrombie and Zara. The one I decided to style is from Zara and I love this one because of the pretty blue embroidery! I decided to pair it with a lighter wash slightly distressed pair of mom jeans from Abercrombie and some flat navy sandals from Matisse. It’s super casual, but still looks put together.

I hope you found these tips helpful and you feel ready to enjoy your summer events with a few new styling tips. Though things are different from previous summers, I think we’ll be able to make the most of the situation and still enjoy the time spent with family and friends.
